WILL MARIE DORIN HABERT TAKE THE YELLOW BIB FROM GABRIELA SOUKALOVA AND OTHER INTRIGUES OF WORLD CUP IN KHANTY-MANSIYSK

Biathlon World Cup Final will start on March’17 in Khanty-Mansiysk. The winner of big Crystal Globe among men is already defined. For the fifth year in a row if it Martin Fourcade of France. Among women the winner will be defined here, in the capital of Ugra.

Now the leader of total score is Gabriela Soukalova of Czech Republic (1039 points). But now after a brilliant performance on World Championships in Norway (two gold, silver and bronze medals in individual races) Marie Dorin Habert of France made her gap from the leader minimal (970 points).

Soukalova is also a leader in three disciplines that will be held in Khanty-Mansiysk: sprint, pursuit and mass start. In sprint she is 54 points ahead of Marie. So even if a French athlete wins Gabriela needs to finish not lower than 34th place to keep yellow bib.

In pursuit score Dorothea Wierer of Italy is just 11 point back Gabriela. The chances of other athletes to win are simply theoretical.

In mass start Gabriela Soukalova got 241 point in this season. This is just 5 points less that Marie Dorin Habert who has won this race on World Championships in Holmenkollen. Besides, Laura Dahlmeier with 228 points also has the chances for small Crystal Globe.

There’s only one intrigue left in men competitions — will Anton Shipulin be a vice-leader of the Total score for the second year in a row? At the moment Russian athlete has 785 points, while Johannes Thinges Boe is very close to him with 730 points.

As for total scores in individual disciplines, the victory in all of them was ahead-of-schedule taken by Martin Fourcade.
