THE OFFICIAL TRAINING OF MEN WAS HELD

Today, on March’16, prior to the start of the races of Biathlon World Cup Final the official training of men was held on the stadium of Alexander Filipenko Winter Sports Center.

Female athletes were the first who went on a track where women’s sprint will take place tomorrow. Although their training was unofficial, it was quite intense and focused on the shooting part. However, biathletes didn’t forget to test the snow of the track, which is absolutely ready for tomorrow’s races.

Many of them missed yesterday’s training so all top athletes were on the track today.

Members of French team were the first to come to the stadium. Among them was the leader of the squad – Martin Fourcade.

Right after him came Arnd Peiffer of Germany.  The athlete was in good spirits. This is not surprising as many times Arnd was saying that he liked to compete in Khanty-Mansiysk. This is the place where he won his first gold of the World Cup and became the world champion.

Team of Norway has also resumed their training. Ole Einar Bjoerndalen looked serious and determined as usual. Even main merry fellows of biathlon brothers Boe looked totally unrecognizably.

Athletes of Russian team started their training with jogging along the streets of Khanty-Mansiysk and came to the stadium later than their counterparts from other countries. Yury Shopin and Peter Paschenko who have joined the team recently, were standing a bit aside of the other squad. Young team members were encouraged by veterans of Russian biathlon Dmitry Malyshko and Evgeny Garanichev.

Closer to the end of the training weather conditions have changed and it is started to snow. By the way, the same snowy weather was forecast for the competition days. This will make the races less predictable and very exciting.
